According to a study of 71 women between the ages of 18 and 48, some 87% of ladies use excessive vocals to "manipulate their partners" into coming to an orgasm more quickly. But guess what? Men fake it, too.

While 25% of women report making lots of noise to fake an orgasm, men are generally less vocal, even when they're acting. 61% of female-fakers used noises to get their point across, but only 36% of males did the same

GASP! Say it ain't so! At least you ladies CAN fake it, we on the other side however are not so lucky. We either perform like a porn star or we are TOTALLY humilated.

With all the emphasis on sex in our society we are such an up tight, unfeeling and often inefectual bunch of lovers. It makes me wonder where as a species we went wrong? When did we decide that treating one sex or the other as anything but equal was the proper way to behave? When did we become ashamed of our bodies and our selves?

By the way Loretta I love this quote in your header "I became a feminist as an alternative to becoming a masochist." Sally Kempton" If you don't mind I will share it with my Daughters. Both of whom have wonderful partners, and the guys ARE their partners, for them it's a team effort. Wife and I must have done something right, not sure how mind you since we were winging it as parents, but they turned out all right.

Now, see, that's what I thought but the article said guys fake it too, which is totally confusing.

But I have a question: is it really so bad to fake it if it adds to your partner's pleasure?

I love that quote too. Sure, pass it along to as many as you please. I certainly don't own it and besides, we can all use a good laugh.

Is it WRONG to fake it? Heck no, if it makes your partner happy where is the harm? Hope I didn't give the idea I was condemning it, far from it. I was bemoaning the fact that guys are no where near as proficient as women at the practice. But then we males are a whole lot simpler when it comes to sexual gratification. And yeah humor is always a good thing.

No, I didn't get that from your post. It's just a question that occurred to me.

As to proficient, I dunno about that. Maybe not in faking it but in other things sexual...well, there's some pretty great dudes out there.

I'm happy that neither my partner nor I feel the need to "fake it" with each other. We both know that, no matter how much fun we're having however many different ways, sometimes it's just not going to happen, and we're comfortable enough to be able to let each other know so we can, well...move on. ;-)

I imagine it'd be virtually impossible without a condom.

Heck, recent studies show that monkeys do it too. Female monkeys were shown to use vocalizations to encourage the males who were mating with them to climax. Those who were the most vocal had more successful copulations with more males than those who were less vocal.

Having sex with someone who isn't vocal at all is totally boring and uninspiring. Feedback is important. If they're not letting you know what works and what doesn't you might as well just go off somewhere and masturbate.

Good points. Communication is definitely important in all that we do, including sex.

As long as you are giving pleasure to each other, does it matter if you have an orgasm or not? Sometimes it is OK to just make love and not worry about what is going to happen.

There's an entire sacred sexuality concept built around the idea that its better not to orgasm. The Kama Sutra teaches orgasm control with the idea that prolonging and mutally enjoying the state of sexual arousal is more important than climaxing.

i fake it a lot...without a condom...how?...it's called kegeling...makes the woman THINK you had a big ol fat one...add in a little noise and it's all good...can be used in 5 minutes or 15 minutes...comes in handy when you've had a hard day and she just won't take no...or if you just want to sleep and she keeps at you about it...fake it pregame and enjoy the game with no interruptions...once i learned how to fake it with women...my life got a lot better...i have sex on my terms and don't have to feel like i'm on the battan death march...hit it, quit it, done for the day and she's none the wiser...

Interesting. I know kegel exercises help women. Didn't know they help men too until I just went looking. Is this what you were talking about?
