A black couple living in the U.K. were shocked by the birth of a blonde haired, blue-eyed girl.

Ben Ihegboro must have briefly questioned his wife Angela's fidelity after the birth of Nmachi, and he conceded: "We both just sat there after the birth staring at her".

As there is no known mixed-race background in either of the parents' families, geneticists are baffled by the newborn's surprise appearance.

Nmachi is the couple's third child, with Dumebi, 2, and Chisom, 4, each bearing a strong resemblance to their parents. Doctors rejected the possibility of the baby being albino. The real cause is unknown, with the only explanation being a "genetic quirk." (See pictures of the first years of four babies.)

Well I hope they don't let this affect how they love and care for her.

I saw the pictures of the parents together holding that baby and wow a full head of blonde hair. Surely there has to be a resembulance in features of both parents that they are able to see even if this white exists.

Black Parents Shocked by Birth of a White Daughter
But she is still black. I was told earlier that it does not matter if the mother or father is white the child is black. This girl is black having black mother and father.

I know a Black family who are offsprings of Tulula Bankhead (black & white pictured actress). Tulula was a Caucasian. Now the only true traits they have is most have a fair complexion. But there is one exception, a few of the men in the family are dark skinned with blue eyes. At first, that was a little spooky to me for it was a first. I didn't think it was possible.

My grandmother have 13 children. She had hazel eyes, fair complexion, and red hair. Rare features for a Black woman. But throughout the family, every now and then those hazel eyes, fair complexion, and red hair just pops up through the years........ I guess that's natural. But not as amazing as your story.

I wasn't told until almost 16 that their was any Native American in my ancestry, I had one grandmother that wanted it hide away from everyone. But on my moms side it was said that one of her ancestors came from a tribe that had blue eyes. I really need to get more answers on it all, but my grandparents have departed this world. What they knew, what secretes they keep have all been taken to the grave. One never knows all there is to know about their ancestors. My daughter has my eyes. I always considered my eye color unusual, I really need to do more to find out why.

You can do genealogical research for quite a few generations back. You begin by getting the birth certificates of your parents, which will list your grandparents and their information. Then you order their birth certificates and keep on moving back. You can also get death certificates which will also contain information. Costs about $25 per birth or death certificate.

You can go to any Mormon temple and peruse their records. They have people to help. They also have an online database. Doesn't cost anything.

There is a Social Security Death Index that lists everyone whose died that has a social security number. You don't need their social security number. You can research by name. If it is a common name, you'll get a lot of hits and you'll have to go through them for the right one. It's free too and online. This will tell you when they died and where. If there is a record you want more information on, you can pay a fee to order that record.

You can also contact genealogy societies in the appropriate areas or on-line registries. It's possible you'll find that a lot of the work is done for you or that there are others researching the same line.

My family has researched our heritage back for several centuries. The further back you go, the spottier it gets, but recent centuries are relatively easier if you're willing to take the time.

Lucy...you have some 'splainin to do!!

Seriously though, my sister is white, her husband is black. They have 2 kids. 1 looks of mixed race, the other is very fair skinned with green eyes and bright red hair. And yes, they are both the biological children of both parents for sure.

They make quirky allusions toward infidelity, but unless I missed it at first chance, there's no mention of a genetics test ever being performed. Think I'm going to do further research and exercise patience before I concur on the "remarkable" or "amazing" status of this story.
